Often misunderstood, Thomas Jefferson's faith is difficult to define.  Was he a deist, Christian, or a rational theist?  Dr. Gary S. Smith, author of the newly released "Faith and the Presidency from George Washington to George W. Bush" (Oxford University Press) will help you to understand the faith that helped to shape this important American founder.
