The American Founders Luncheon Series brings to Pittsburgh respected scholars on the American Founding to present engaging talks focused on the beliefs, actions and character of those leaders who pursued a “Great Experiment” in whether humans are capable of governing themselves.

Dr. Gary S. Smith Gary Scott Smith is a professor of history at Grove City College and the author of Faith and the Presidency from George Washington to George W. Bush.
Often misunderstood, Thomas Jefferson's faith is difficult to define. Was he a deist, Christian, or a rational theist? Dr. Gary S. Smith, author of the newly released "Faith and the Presidency from George Washington to George W. Bush" (Oxford University Press) will help you to understand the faith that helped to shape this important American founder.
