About The Center for Vision & Values

Hall of Arts and Letters

Vision & Mission

The work of The Center for Vision & Values is closely tied to its vision and mission statements.

The vision of The Center for Vision & Values is to educate the world about the transforming power of Christian faith and individual freedom.

The mission of The Center for Vision & Values is to encourage and to support Grove City College faculty and kindred scholars in faith and freedom scholarship and to teach their ideals and ideas to our students, our nation and the world beyond.

Educating Our Students, Our Nation and the World Beyond

The Center is capitalizing on reaching the college’s 2,300 students. Many organizations develop large budgets to reach the nation’s top students. Grove City College students, with an average SAT score of 1280, are among the brightest in the country and the Center is able to reach them with sustained impact during their college experience. The Center’s kickoff conference, for example, titled “The Road From Poverty to Freedom: A Look Backward and Forward at The War on Poverty” was packaged as a one-hour course offering. One hundred students from several disciplines, including the sciences, learned about addressing poverty from the perspectives of faith, free enterprise and limited government.

Moreover, by disseminating fundamental, but consumer-friendly, research through the strategic use of technology, the Center has already demonstrated its ability to reach potential audiences of millions through the internet, television, radio, electronic newsletters and blogs.

In 2004 the Center obtained 280 web site placements for opinion editorials, hundreds of radio interviews, 389 placements of opinion editorials in newspapers and 33 television appearances, many of which were national including FOX and C-Span. The Center’s earned media value – the equivalent cost of advertising purchases – in 2004 was worth more than $4,000,000.

Conclusion

Freedom requires free institutions to support and maintain it.The Center for Vision & Values is a growing institution at an established one-of-a-kind college with a distinct perspective. Our proven scholars and Center staff have demonstrated the ability to reach top students, our nation and the world beyond with Christian scholarship that defends and advances freedom.
